Events at Harrold-Odell Country Park

 

 

 

Christmas Competition
Throughout the School Holidays


Come into the Discovery Room in the Visitor Centre and see if you can identify the photographs on show in there. Fill in your entry form and put it in the box provided for completed answer sheets. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the holidays. Categories for all ages.

Events Booking Information
The events are available to everyone to enjoy, learn about the Country Park and the surrounding countryside.
Places are limited, so booking is required.

All events are free of charge, but if you enjoy yourself, why not make a donation in one of our boxes. We will use any money collected to put on future events.

The meeting point for all events is by the garage doors at the rear of the visitor centre.

Please wear sturdy boots and sensible outdoor clothing whilst on the walks or on the conservation tasks.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday 27th Jan 12 – 3pm
Making bird/bat boxes
Des res for your local wildlife. Advice about where and how to site the box. See what you can attract to your garden.

Thursday 6th Mar 10am – 1pm
Making Obelisks
Using materials from the Park make an obelisk for your garden. It will help support your plants and flowers or just use it as an architectural statement!

April (throughout the school holidays)
Easter Colouring Competition
Colour in a butterfly or a fish. Prizes for the best ones at the end of the holiday.

Monday 12th May 10am – 12pm
Digital Photography
Don’t know one end of the camera from the other? Come along to this beginner’s session. Learn how to operate your own camera and take some photographs in the Park.

Saturday 28th June 10am – 12pm
Wild Flower id.
Investigate and identify the flowers in the Park as you walk along.

Sunday 20th July 12 – 3pm
Walking Sticks
Carve your own personalised walking stick from materials found in the Park. Make it just the right height and hand hold for yourself. All materials provided.

Sunday 28th September 12 – 3pm
Spoons and spatulas
Learn some of the tricks of the trade to make your own kitchen spatulas and spoons. Find out which wood is the best for this and have a go at some of the tools including a shave horse, pole lathe, spoon gouge and curved knife!

Sunday 12th October 1 – 4pm
The Big Draw
You can do it! Make your own charcoal and draw your own design.

Sunday 30th November 1 – 4pm
Christmas Decorations
Wreaths, angels, etc all made with materials from the Park.
