Statutory
educational provision within North Bedfordshire is provided by Bedford Borough Council and is currently based upon a three tier system of:
lower
schools (catering
for 5 to 9 year olds)
middle
schools (catering
for 9 to 13 year
olds)
upper schools
(pupils
from 13+ to 18+)
Pre-school and community education is well
provided within the local area.
Proposals to change this in favour of a two-tier system have been provsionally agreed, subject to funding.
