Police Report
Harrold and Carlton with Chellington Parishes
December 2007

Carlton and Chellington Parish

In the period covered by this report 1 Crime was reported within the parish. This was an attempted burglary, but the offenders were disturbed and chased off.

Harrold Parish

There were 5 reported crimes during this period, 1 Burglary Dwelling, 1 Burglary Non Dwelling, 1 Theft from the Centre (Fire Extinguisher), 1 Theft from person (Bogus PC) and 1 Taken Without Owners Consent which resulted in two youths being arrested.

If you have persons calling at your door stating they are water board, electricity board etc., and may require access please ensure you thoroughly check their credentials. Make sure your back door is locked and open the door on the chain if you have one. If you are not happy do not allow them access. Frequent requests are for occupants to turn on taps, whilst you go with one person to do this another may enter and search your property.

Nuisance youths remain a problem in the area around the green and the school. A number of stop and encounters were made on local youths in December and a large amount of alcohol confiscated/disposed of in that time. Please continue to report any acts of anti-social behaviour.

Parking also remains a problem within the two villages; I have received numerous complaints from residents, and would like to remind people to consider pedestrians and other road users in the area.

There has also been a number of Thefts from vehicles in the Country Park which were not reported, please follow these simple steps to reduce vehicle crime Don’t leave anything on display, Shut windows and doors and never leave the keys in the ignition.

Theft of BT cabling is also a growing problem, with persons taking out cables from underground systems. This is expensive to repair and will cause much disruption in the affected areas. Please be vigilant and if you do not believe workmen are genuine call the police.

If anybody has any concerns or issues they wish to discuss I can be contacted on: 01234 275175 (Riseley Police Station) or by e-mail: allan.taylor@bedfordshire.pnn.police.uk alternately you can contact
