CHURCHES TOGETHER IN HARROLD & CARLTON
This organisation brings together St. Francis’
RC Church, St. Mary’s, Carlton, St. Peter’s, Harrold and Harrold
Chapel (URC). It arranges united services throughout the Christian
year (including evening Songs of Praise), an annual Open Gardens,
youth activities, The Bridge, etc.
“Committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ
through worship, work and witness”
We are committed to building relationships with:
God and each other, the village communities and the wider world
through worship and prayer, witness and mission, service and
discipleship, pastoral care and spiritual guidance.
Churches Together comprises St. Mary’s Carlton, St. Peter’s
Harrold and the United Reformed Church at Harrold. Recently more
and more activities have included
All Saints at Odell. Which we are delighted about.
To enable the mission statement to be a reality within the community
five groups have been established:
Worship: to review and plan the patterns of services for all the
churches and this includes united services where all congregations
meet to worship and celebrate together. They are also responsible
for spiritual growth events such as Lent Groups.
Pastoral Care: it is not always possible for the Rector to make
house or hospital visits so the Pastoral Care team undertake that
responsibility. They will visit people who are sick either at home
or in hospital, will welcome newcomers to the villages and will
be on hand to provide support and a listening ear at times of bereavement.
Mission: evangelism and everyday engagement with the community,
organising the prayer chain where people in trouble can have prayers
aid for them (see worship and prayer page) and alpha courses.
Children and youth Work: the annual holiday
club is a great event and one not to be missed. There is also
a Monday Club in Carlton
village School and a bible story telling event called ‘Open
the Book’ which is held at the village schools.
Communication: responsible for publishing
The Bridge and village web sites, publicity for all events, the
weekly pew leaflets and
Christmas and Easter cards distributed to every home.
